Author Interview with Stephanie Jefferson

Hi! It's interview time again :) I hope you all have had a wonderful week!! Today I have Stephanie Jefferson featured. Enjoy!

How did you come up with the idea for your book?
The idea for my book came from a question asked by my granddaughter. She wanted to be a princess and at the time Disney didn’t have any with brown skin. So, when she asked where the ‘beautiful brown princesses’ were, I went on a search. I found what I was looking for in the ancient kingdom of Nubia.

Do you have a favorite character?
I think it’s easier to say that any strong female character will get my vote.

How old were you when you started writing?
Oh my gosh, I was pretty old when I started writing, but I’ve always been a storyteller.

Favorite character from your favorite book?
If I had to choose it can’t be just one. It would be a combination of Killashandra Ree and Damia from Anne McCaffrey with a large helping of Eve Dallas from JD Robb mixed in.

Is there any certain message you want readers to take from reading your book?
Yes!!! That message would be, ‘you can do anything as long as you’re willing to do the work to accomplish it!

When is the release date? Where can we buy it at?
PRINCESS KANDAKE: Warrior by Choice...Appointed to Rule was released February, 2012. I just released Weight of the Crown, book #2 in the PRINCESS KANDAKE series. Both can be found on Amazon and Create Space. The first book, PRINCESS KANDAKE, is available in just about any digital format (Kindle, Nook, iBooks, Kobo, Sony, Apple, Mobi, etc) on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords. The digital editions of Weight of the Crown will be available by December 18th.

Do you incorporate any of your favorite things, places, hobbies, into your books?
My favorite things that I incorporate in my books are all intangible: strength, character, and a sense of justice

Who are some of your favorite authors?
It’s good that you asked for only some of my favorite authors...I’ll list a few. Anne McCaffrey, JD Robb, Mike Shepherd, Elizabeth Moon, Tanya Huff, Lisanne Norman, Linnea Sinclair, Tamar Myers.

Favorite books?
It’s easier to say that I love character driven science fiction, mysteries, certain types of fantasy

Favorite foods?
popcorn, chewy sour candy, chocolate covered nuts with caramel

Black and white or color?
That depends. I love old black and white movies, but I can’t imagine watching Avatar in anything but color.

Batman, Spiderman, or Zorro?
Zorro!

Twitter or Facebook?
Facebook, I’m still trying to figure out how to use Twitter to my advantage

What are you currently working on? Can we have a sample of it?
I’m working on three different projects right now. A sample, hmm.... I’m not sure what to give you.

If you could ask your favorite author anything, what would it be? Answer it for us, please.
I would have asked how to keep going when you get these wonderful rejection letters like the collection I have. Editors/agents would tell me that they really enjoyed my work but weren’t sure if they could sell it. So the answer for me was to publish it myself, and it is selling!

If you could tell your readers anything, what would it be?
I love the journey of story and I especially love that they’re traveling with me.

Huge thanks to Stephanie for stopping by!
